Apparently 66% of the social media users polled made a Black Friday or Cyber Monday purchase as a direct result of an interaction on social media. And 65 % of users’ recommendations lead to a purchase. As much as social media can at times be a time wasting, drama starting medium, it’s obviously here to stay with many users. So, why not harness the power of this captive audience by using it for good…for your business! We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: social media isn’t for every business, but if your product or service is something you’re passionate about, chances are other people are too, they just don’t know it.
A Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or Google+ company profile is a great way to connect with your current and future customers and showcase what you do. More and more consumers are researching social sites before making purchases. The same social media poll found that 36% of social media users trust brands that have a social media presence more than brands that do not. Maybe the most shocking yet sensible figure reports that 80% of social media users that received a response to a post they made on a brand’s page made a purchase as result of the interaction. If you take the time to respond to your customers and answer their questions or make a suggestion, you are establishing a relationship and trust. It makes sense that consumers want to do business with companies that have good customer service.
